Farm Uses For UTVs

A UTV (utility terrain vehicle, also called a side-by-side) is an extremely versatile powersports vehicle used for both work and play that can satisfy a variety of off-road riding needs. If you’re a farmer or rancher, you may not be aware of the ways in which owning a UTV can help you with your work. Here are just a few of the many ways a UTV can be used on the farm.

1. Sow Seeds

Sowing seeds is made easy with a spreader attachment for your UTV. Drive up and down the fields to spread seeds quickly and evenly. You can also use the spreader attachment to distribute fertilizer or other necessary nutrients over your growing crops.

2. Cultivate Soil

If you have a harrow attachment, you can hitch it to your UTV and drag it behind the vehicle while riding over any land you need to cultivate. The harrow will help to break up compacted soil and turn it over, readying it for planting.

3. Tend to Livestock

Finally, a UTV can be an extremely handy way to quickly attend to all of your animals. You can use the cargo space to transport feed, hay, supplies, and other items around the farm. Since UTVs can also handle trailers, it’s easy to load up large amounts of feed or hay in a trailer to distribute in your barn, where your UTV will fit more easily than a full-sized truck.
