Now that summer is here, staying on top of yard care is important. A well-tended lawn is one that’s going to be fun to spend time on and it will be more attractive, increasing your house’s curb appeal. Winter may have been especially tough on your grass, so here are some strategies to get your yard looking good for warm weather.

Clean Up Debris

Go around your yard and pick up debris, whether it’s fallen branches, dog toys, dead vegetation, gardening tools, or sports equipment. It’s also good to look for any rocks that could be large enough to get caught in your lawn mower and remove them from your yard. Leaving large items on the grass can kill it.

Get Your Equipment Ready

When you pull your lawn equipment out of storage to use it for the first time, you’ll want to make sure that it’s clean, full of fresh gasoline, and ready to operate. Check the blades and sharpen them if you need to. Oil may need changing, as will air and oil filters.

Nourish Your Grass

In order to help your lawn grow lush and green, you’ll want to add some fertilizer to it after you mow. Bald spots can be seeded with fresh grass seed, which will require daily watering to ensure that it can take root and grow. Mow your lawn weekly so that it doesn’t grow too long, but don’t cut the blades so short that they can’t recover.
